** Eligibility for the Covid Booster is significantly different to previous years!! See below. **
We will be offering both Flu and Covid Vaccinations at the surgery (Faraday Avenue) on Saturday 4th October from 08:30 to 16:30. We will continue offering further clinics during the normal working week throughout Autumn.
Having a successful autumn vaccination campaign is the best way we can reduce preventable hospital admissions throughout the winter – which in turn keeps our hospitals available for other emergencies.
To ensure our clinics run as smoothly as possible all vaccinations will be via appointment only. Every patient requires their own appointment.
Appointments are bookable online via:
- NHS App (or using whichever other system you use to order your medications online)
- A self-booking link sent to you via text message
- or by calling our reception team.
We are happy for patients to have both their Flu and Covid vaccination at the same appointment – if they are eligible.
Eligibility for Flu Vaccination
Information and eligibility for the Flu vaccine can be found here: Flu vaccine – NHS
You can get the free NHS flu vaccine if you:
- are aged 65 or over (including those who will be 65 by 31 March 2026)
- have certain long-term health conditions
- are pregnant
- live in a care home
- are the main carer for an older or disabled person, or receive a carer’s allowance
- live with someone who has a weakened immune system
Eligibility for Covid Booster Vaccination
Eligibility for the Covid Booster has changed significantly this season, and far fewer patients will be eligible. This is outside our control and we absolutely cannot vaccinate patients who do not meet this years eligibility criteria. Further information can be found here: COVID-19 vaccine – NHS
You can get the winter COVID-19 vaccine if you:
- are aged 75 or over (including those who will be 75 by 31 January 2026)
- are aged 6 months to 74 years and individuals who are severely immunosuppressed because of a health condition or treatment (such as blood cancer, having had an organ transplant, being HIV positive, or recently had chemotherapy or radiotherapy)
- live in a care home for older adults
Booking by Phone
We would be grateful if patients ringing to book flu vaccination appointments could ring after 11:30 in the morning to help ensure that patients phoning medical complaints can get through on the phone. The surgery phone line is: 01777 870203
When you come for your appointment…
- When you attend for your appointment please do not enter the building more than 5 minutes before your appointment time. If you are early please wait outside!
- Please arrive as close to your appointment time as possible – our car parking is very limited.
- After you have had your vaccination you will be directed to leave the building via the backdoor. This is to help us keep a circular flow of patients through the building.
If you have changed your mobile phone number please ensure we have it
We will share information as quickly as possible via our website and social media, then by text message. Please follow our Facebook page to get updates quickly.
Help the NHS by registering for the NHS App…
We are under increasing pressure to phase out text messaging in favour of using the NHS App. Across Nottinghamshire the cost of SMS text messaging uses a staggering 30% of the Primary Care IT Budget. By comparison – messages delivered by the NHS App are free. Please support this transition by:
- Downloading and registering for the NHS App if you have a compatible smart phone.
- Enable Notifications from the NHS App (otherwise it will default to sending another sms!)
45% of our patients are already registered for, and using, the NHS App. For more information on what the NHS App can do for you – see here: https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-app/about-the-nhs-app/
Finally…
Thank you for getting vaccinated with us here at Tuxford Medial Centre. Getting your vaccine from us brings us a valuable income stream that supports the other medical services that we provide throughout the rest of the year.
We hope that everything runs smoothly – however despite our planning we are completely at the mercy of vaccine delivery – and unfortunately hiccups do happen from time to time. Should anything change we will contact you as soon as we can.
Thanks for reading!
