2021/22 Seasonal Flu Campaign & Covid Boosters

We will be offering both Flu and Covid Vaccinations at the surgery (Faraday Avenue) on

  • Saturday 24th September – 08:30 to 12:30
  • Saturday 1st October – 08:30 to 12:30

To ensure the clinics run as smoothly as possible all vaccinations will be via appointment only. Every patients requires their own appointment (in previous years we have often vaccinated couples in a single appointment – we are unable to do that this year!).

Appointments are bookable online via the NHS App (or using whichever other system you use to order your medications online), or by calling our reception team.

Booking online

When booking online please be aware that there are two types of appointment:

  • “Flu Vaccination” – for patients who only want their seasonal Influenza Vaccination without having their Covid Vaccination at the same time.
  • Flu and Covid – for patients who want to receive both their seasonal Influenza Vaccinations and their Covid Autumn Booster at the same time.

Please only book a single appointment per person – depending on which you require.

We will offer separate Covid Boosters at a later date for patients who want the covid vaccination without the flu vaccination.

Booking by Phone

We would be grateful if patients ringing to book flu vaccination appointments could ring after 10:30 in the morning to help ensure that patients phoning medical complaints can get through on the phone. The surgery phone line is:   01777 870 203

Information about the Vaccines

The NHS Choices website is one of the best places to find information about this years seasonal vaccinations, including the eligibility criteria.

Information about the Flu Vaccination can be found here: www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/flu-influenza-vaccine/

Information about the Covid Vaccination can be found here: www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/coronavirus-vaccine/

To be eligible for a Covid vaccination you must be aged 50 years or older, resident a care homes for older people, or aged 5 years and over in a clinical risk group. It must also be 90 days since your last Covid Vaccination – but this is only likely to be a problem if you had your Spring Booster very late.

Unfortunately, we are unable to tell you which Covid-19 we will have for our clinics.

Patients aged 50 to 64 not ‘at risk’

We will be offering vaccinations to this cohort of patients after 15th October 2022. To ensure that our more vulnerable patients are prioritised the legal framework by which our nurses can vaccinate patients specifies that we are unable to vaccinate these healthy individuals until after mid October.

When you come for your appointment…

  • When you attend for your appointment please do not enter the building more than 5 minutes before your appointment time. If you are early please wait outside!
  • Please arrive as close to your appointment time as possible – our car parking is very limited.
  • Please ensure you wear a face mask when you are in the building. (Whilst face Masks are no longer mandatory a significant number of our vulnerable patients feel more comfortable in surroundings where others are also mask wearing)
  • After you have had your vaccination you will be directed to leave the building via the backdoor. This is to help us keep a circular flow of patients and maintain social distancing.

If you have changed your mobile phone number please ensure we have it

We will share information as quickly as possible via our website and social media, then by text message. Please follow our Facebook page to get updates quickly.

Finally…

We do hope that everything runs smoothly – however despite our planning we are completely at the mercy of vaccine delivery – and unfortunately hiccups do happen from time to time. Should anything chance we will contact you as soon as we can.
